Directions to the Library

From Interstate 79:  Take Exit 62 and turn left onto Rt. 4 North and travel into Sutton. The library is past the Braxton County Courthouse, on the left side of the road.

Friends of the Library


The Friends of the Library is an organization that has a long history with the library. The goal of the group is to encourage local citizen involvement. In the state of West Virginia, there are several organized groups.

 

What do they Friends of the Library Do?


Work toward quality Library Service by:
 

~Stimulating public support.
~Encouraging greater use of public libraries through expert promotion.
~Enjoying the fellowship of other Library Friends.
~Encouraging gifts, endowments, and memorials.
~Supporting development of library services and facilities for community use.
~Assisting in the development of special community programs for adults--arts, crafts, hobbies--and children's programs.

The West Virginia Library Commission encourages lifelong learning, individual empowerment, civic engagement and an enriched quality of life by enhancing library and information services for all West Virginians.

  

ABCmouse.com is an award winning early education program provided free at our library. It's goal is to  "help children build a strong foundation for future academic success by providing a comprehensive and engaging online curriculum to greatly assist early learners to succeed in pre-k, kindergarten, and early elementary school programs."

  

WV-READS provides access to electronic materials through a company called Overdrive. Overdrive allows you to download audiobooks, ebooks, videos and music to use on your home computer or to transfer to a compatible mobile device. To use Overdrive use your Sutton Library Card number, but register under Upshur Public Library for access.
